Very Tasty Cake for Americans
Two 8 x 3-inch baking pans or one 12 x 3-inch pan
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound (2 sticks) sweet butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar
4 large egg yolks
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup sour cream
4 large egg whites
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter and line two 8 x 3-inch baking pans or one 12 x 3-inch pan with parchment. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. Cream the butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until fluffy and light in color, about 2 minutes on medium speed. Add the sugar and continue to mix until fluffy and light.
Add the egg yolks, one at a time, being sure each is well incorporated before adding the next one. Add the vanilla. Reduce the mixer speed to low and add the dry ingredients alternately with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the flour. Be sure the mixture is completely blended after each addition. Scrape the sides of the bowl, and beat for 1 minute.
In a separate bowl, with clean beaters, beat the egg whites to soft peaks. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the batter with a rubber spatula. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth with a rubber spatula. Bake in the preheated oven, 60 minutes for the 12-inch square pan or 45 to 50 minutes for the 8-inch pan. The top of the tasty cake should be nicely browned. Test with a toothpick. It should come out dry and clean. For more details visit http://www.indomunch.com/

Cake Flour Sugar Eggs Questions
Good, quick, coffee cake recipe with these ingredients?
I have cake/pastry flour (no all-purpose flour), eggs, milk, sugar (brown and white), and my butter is frozen- about a cup, or a little less.
So I want to melt the butter, I guess, to speed things up.
I have baking powder and soda.
I just don’t have time to sort through recipes right now, so if you can lead my to the recipe, I would appreciate it very much.
I will go get the eggs out of the fridge.
try replacing the shortening with butter in this one:

I don’t know if it will work but I hope I helped…
What is orange liqueur? Do you have to be 21 to purchase?
I’m trying to make a chocolate lava cake recipe which requires this.
I’m not 21 and I have no clue what it is.
Wikipedia doesn’t have a listing for it either.
Do I have to be 21 to buy it, if so, is there another substitute I can work with?
Thanks!
Here’s the recipe, courtesy Paula Deen:
6 (1-ounce) squares bittersweet chocolate
2 (1-ounce) squares semisweet chocolate
10 tablespoons (1 1/4 stick) butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 large eggs
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons orange liqueur
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Grease 6 (6-ounce) custard cups. Melt chocolates and butter in microwave, or in a double boiler. Add the flour and sugar to chocolate mixture. Stir in the eggs and yolks until smooth. Stir in the vanilla and orange liqueur. Divide the batter evenly among the custard cups. Place in the oven and bake for 14 minutes. The edges should be firm but the center will be runny.
Well yes, Paula is talking about something called Grand Marnier, and you do have to be 21 or over to buy it. Try her recipe with just plain orange juice in place of the orange liqueur. I think it will work fine.
